Pack This!

Some people hate packing for trips; I totally relish it! Weeks before, I’m already mixing and matching outfits in my head, marking each day in my print-out itinerary with crude outfit doodles, and slowly filling up my suitcase in the days leading up to the trip. The long-drawn out ritual of packing gets me giddy with excitement, because it’s the prelude to yet another adventure!

Of course, pretty travel essentials make the act of packing even more fun.

Flight 001

How cute is this travel wristlet? This eco-friendly, carbon-neutral pouch by Apple&Bee (P990) is just the right size to tote travel essentials I need on hand: passport, boarding pass, iPhone/iPod, and lip balm for my perenially chapped lips (I love Kiehl’s and LaMer). Plus, the message on the pouch delivers instant good vibes! (This pouch is still on my wish list, but it will bee mine.)

Green-minded. I seem to be gravitating toward emerald, mint, and seafoam green pieces lately (just as well, since emerald is the Pantone color of the year), and my new passport case from Flight 001 is in keeping with the verdant theme!

Yes, those are pink earplugs. They’re not just pa-cute, ha–they’re from the new Inspire for Women line by yurbuds (P1500), the leading sports earphones in the US. Especially designed for women’s smaller ears, they come in six juicy colors (aqua, pink, purple, yellow, orange, and green), offer good sound quality, are sweat- and water-resistant, and best of all, don’t fall out of my ears in mid-song, due to its patented Twist-lock technology.

More passport cases: These lovely leather passport cases by School of Satchel (P950 each) conveniently include compartments for credit cards and calling cards. They’re made of genuine cow leather, available in brown, green, yellow, and woven white, and are proudly made in the Philippines.

If you like wearing your camera around your neck for easy access (no more missing picture-perfect moments while fumbling for the camera in the bag!), check out this spiffy genuine cow leather camera strap by School of Satchel (P680).

cosmetic hang bag

Pack me, pack me: Cosmetic hangbags are a must on my packing list, and Apple&Bee have some of the cutest designs around! How do I choose just one? Apple & Bee Fold Out Cosmetic Hang Bags (P2590 each) in Lotus Blossom Blue, Magnolia Shimmer Pink, Love Hearts, and Tulips. (Not in photo: the adorable owl print!) I usually keep mine fully stocked with travel-size toiletries so I can just grab and go for every trip!

Robert Alejandro

Robert Alejandro

To fuel your wanderlust, turn to The Sketching Backpacker (P395)–Robert Alejandro’s illustrated journal of his travels through Asia and parts of China. (Random trivia: I’ve been a Robert Alejandro fan since I discovered his whimsical illustrations in the Papemelroti boutique as a teen, and I squealed like a schoolgirl when I recently discovered that he was actually a friend of my hubby’s!)

travel magazine

For more travel inspiration, pick up the Indie Travel issue of Dispatch magazine, as well as the matching Dispatch Wanderlust Journal to record your adventures. It may look like a regular notebook, but flip through the pages to find quotes, illustrations, and travel photos by Jake Verzosa, Robert Alejandro, Upper Viceo, and more, to punctuate your own personal adventures.
