Last September 21, the Global Mala Project hit Manila with a full day of classes, discussions, yummy food and fun. Organized by yogini, model and host Teresa Herrera, the annual event aims to bring together the yoga community to celebrate all the good things that yoga can bring.
It was a great way for all yoga enthusiasts and wellness-oriented visitors to explore their practices and venture into areas of the practice that they’ve never tried. It was a huge privilege to be able to practice under LA-based YogaWorks teacher David Kim (thanks to Urban Ashram Manila) with his Yoga for Peak Performance class.
After a tiring morning of strong classes, it was great to kick back in the afternoon and take part in yoga discussions and lectures by Francesca Regala and Dona Esteban—all the insights we took from the lectures were a great way to temper the asana classes of the morning. Coming out of the lecture rooms, I chanced upon the Drum Circle (and saw many of my friends happily thumping), and headed over the Yin Yoga class to end my day with a slow and steady practice.
Aside from all the serious (and not so serious) yoga stuff was shopping too! My favorite find from the many booths at the event? The Farm at San Benito’s heavenly lemongrass body scrub—something every yogi and beauty product addict’s got to try.
Overall, it was a fun-filled day. I’m happy to know that all the proceeds also went to like-minded beneficiaries like Illiac Diaz’s Liter of Light. Super excited for next year’s event!
